How to contact us and book your activity: Taste Belize operates out of Placencia Village, Stann Creek District, Belize. We are a very small company with two guides, Lyra and Elroy. We do not have a store front, we work out of a home office in Placencia Village, but the owner Lyra is happy to answer questions, discuss tour options and book in your choices via email or phone. Lyra both answers the emails and guides many of the tours, so if you don’t get an immediate response by email or cant get through on the phone, it is likely that we are out in the jungle somewhere! I try to check email every morning and evening, so you should have a response by evening or at the latest, the next day. Belize does not always have reliable internet, phone and electrical services so if you don’t hear back in a day or two please resend your message as it may not have gotten through. You can contact us using the form at the bottom of this page or email directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also call Taste Belize from within Belize at 664-8699. When calling from outside of Belize, dial 011-501-664-8699. We strongly recommend booking in advance if possible as we do get booked out during our busiest months and that way you can be sure of having the activity you want on the day you want it!
Cancellation Policy: You may freely cancel or reschedule a tour up until 24 hours before the start time of the tour. If you cancel a tour within 24 hours of the start time for the tour, (for example, anytime after 8AM the day before if the tour begins at 8AM), you will be required to pay 50% in cash of the total cost of the tour for yourself and your group. If you reschedule your tour for another available day we will not charge a cancellation fee. We ask that you please be courteous and aware of other guests and our busy season and to please try to avoid any last minute cancellations or rescheduling. When you make a booking you acknowledge that you have read and accept the terms of our cancellation policy. On our part, we will not cancel a tour unless inclement weather makes it impossible (due to flooded roads, etc) or dangerous (due to extremely rough seas, etc) to our guests physical safety to proceed with the tour. We will do our best to reschedule the tour at a safer time.
Tour Payment: Please note before booking that because we collaborate with small businesses and individuals who do not have credit card machines, we are CASH ONLY, accepting both US and Belize dollars. There are four ATM/Cash machines located in Placencia Village if you need to withdraw cash in order to pay for your tour on the tour day. We are happy to provide you with a receipt for your payment upon request, and we can also email you an invoice upon request.
Tour Pickup: As part of our personalized service we offer free pick up and drop off from any hotel or rental located on Placencia Peninsula for all our inland tours. Sea tours depart from the MnM Gas Station pier next to the Hokey Pokey Water Taxi in downtown Placencia Village.
What to Wear and Bring on Tour: For most of our tours we recommend close toed walking shoes with some kind of tread, (tennis shoes are good), and sensible and comfortable shorts. For tours that involve waterfalls or river tubing bring a swimsuit and towel. For farm tours and jungle hikes we recommend lightweight long pants or long shorts. Bring bugspray, sunblock, extra cash, something to take pictures with and your appetite for adventure and delicious food and chocolate!
A Note About Water: Here at Taste Belize Tours we believe strongly in preserving our natural environment and supporting sustainable development of our country. We have very limited recycling services in Belize and we have decided to not use plastic water bottles on tour so as to avoid contributing to area landfills. On our tours we provide water to our guests using stainless steel reusable water bottles filled with our very clean and delicious Placencia water, which comes straight out of an underground aquifer fed that has filtered through tons of sand and limestone without touching the surface for hundreds of thousands of years. Our water bottles are thoroughly cleaned after every use. If you do not feel comfortable using our water bottles while on tour please feel free to bring your own water bottle, there is plenty of room in our ice box!
