Tour Description
Join us as we head inland to Maya Centre, a Mopan Maya village at the mouth of the famous Cockscomb Jaguar Reserve, for a tour of a cacao farm and hands on chocolate making with Cheโil Chocolate company. After our morning with chocolate we visit Hopkins Village, a picturesque seaside Garifuna community an hour drive north of Placencia. Here the famous Chef Gloria Lambey welcomes us to her home where we learn to make a delicious plate of hudut (savory coconut milk and fresh herb broth, pounded plantain and fresh fish) from scratch. Husk a coconut and turn it into milk for the base of this savory dish and participate in every step of creating this famous and delicious meal over a traditional wood burning fire hearth. After eating our fill in Hopkins, we cool off in a beautiful rain forest waterfall nestled in the foot hills of the Cockscomb Mountains.
