WHERE TO DINE?

Curried lobster with purple yampi mash at 1981 Restaurant, Naia Resort and Spa

Our guests often ask us where to eat. There are so many wonderful options on Placencia Peninsula that it can be hard to choose. To make things easier, we have created a list of all the specialty food shops, restaurants, bars, cool spots, taco stands and to go places on the 14 mile long Placencia Peninsula. It is organized by community from south to north, starting with the largest, Placencia Village at the southern tip of Placencia Peninsula, and ending with the tiny hamlet of Riversdale at the northernmost end. Each community listing is divided into three categories : “Full Service Sit Down Restaurants and Bars”, “Street Food & To Go” and “Specialty Food Shops” (this category includes coffee and tea houses, bakeries, ice cream shops and so on). Click on each venue name to read their details. We list venues alphabetically within each category. Where available we include links to each venue’s website or Facebook page.

When exploring the foodscapes of Belize you will find that social media, particularly Facebook, plays an important marketing role. If you are on Facebook and want to know the latest specials in Placencia Village, we recommend that you join the Facebook group Placencia Restaurants/Food. Only there will you hear about Mr. Calbert’s delicious conch soup being sold down by the pier, or the fresh hot fish panades available this evening as well as peruse the daily specials of a range of locally owned sit down and to-go restaurants. Be adventurous! Some of the best food in Belize is not found on a white table cloth, but rather produced with love by tiny businesses operated out of peoples homes or humble buildings along the roadside.

Email us at tastebelize@gmail.com if we have missed a spot that you would like us to add! Feel free to share this restaurant listing by linking to our listing URL. Please do not use our listing without giving credit and linking to the original list on our website. Thank you and enjoy! (NOTE: we are currently in the process of creation, new restaurant descriptions will be added as we receive them from business owners, please check back for complete list which we hope to have finalized by the end of November.)

For your convenience we have given the locations of each venue (again, a work in progress as of October 2019, but in process right now!) so you can easily locate it on this map. More details for each food business can be found in the list below the map.
