Garifuna Cooking & Chocolate

$130.00

Join us as we visit Hopkins Village, a picturesque seaside Garifuna community an hour drive north of Placencia. Here chef Gloria welcomes us to her home where we learn to make a delicious plate of hudut (savory coconut milk and fresh herb broth, pounded plantain and fresh fish) from scratch. Husk a coconut and turn it into milk for the base of this savory dish and participate in every step of creating this famous and delicious meal. After eating our fill in picturesque Hopkins, we head inland to Maya Centre, a Mopan Maya village at the mouth of the famous Cockscomb Jaguar Reserve, for a tour of a cacao farm and hands on chocolate making with Che’il Chocolate company! CUSTOMIZE IT: Garifuna fire hearth cooking can also be combined with Bitters making, in our Tasting Hopkins Tour, a tour of Marie Sharps hot sauce factory, of Sagitun Banana Farm, a hike in the Cockscomb Jaguar Reserve or done by itself as a half day tour.
